We're planning to start using our HAL patient simulator in the very near future, does anyone have experience of running HAL? Any tips for when running him, or any problems to look out for?

it's a gaumard simulated patient, rf rather than wifi, pretty good capabilities including seizure i.e. he shakes, similar user interface to laerdal, can use any monitor for vitals, so don't need to take stuff to the wards, you use the wards kit!! can be a little noisey though,

so I've had the opportunity to install and get a bit more familiar with the Gaumard manikins over the past couple of months, and i'm really beginning to like them. The functionality is good, e.g. cap refill LED, lung compliance, eye movement and tracking!! usable with standard ward equipment, the visuals are good and the software is still a little clunky still but very usable, seriously worth having a look!!

We have a couple of Gaumard's birthing manikins ('Noelle'), and we have had some issues including the baby getting stuck to the birthing mechanism, and the eyelids getting stuck due to an air leak. Gaumard only have one rep for the whole of Scotland as far as I know (not sure about rest of UK), and if new parts are required they have to send away to the USA or somewhere else far flung, which means the manikin can be out of action for some time. The manikin itself is good but just something to think about when considering Gaumard!

We typically have around 7 days from USA for parts but if its needed we can get in a day or two
