Hi All What, where and how do you get rid of your old manikins that are way past their best use and several patch-up and fixes?!!! Is there a place where manikins go in the after-life?!! We have arterial arms, old pelvic trainers etc. I'm not sure the bin men would approve?!!! Many thanks in advance

recycle and reuse as whatever is required, we've used a torso for organ harvesting for the organ retrieval service, converted to pericardiocentesis part task trainer and soon to be thoracotomy manikin in a course being developed. Seriously, i throw nothing out til it's totally wasted. the internals we contact waste management to dispose of. sounds like your part task trainers might not be so easy to convert or salvage bits from, they could probably be binned. Does university have waste management?

We get rid of most old equipment now using UniGreenScheme. www.unigreenscheme.co.uk/Haven't got rid of any manikins yet, as like Scott, we would take to pieces for spare parts before throwing them out.
