Hi all!
My name is Danielle the Skills & Sim Tech at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Before the new year I wanted to host a informal training day for Sim Techs & Apprentices at MKUH, for the day i'm wanting to do i wanted to focus on moulage. The point of the day being to share skills, create a network of SimWorkers & just have a group of people to ask for advice/sharing ideas with. Who would be interested in this? You can contact me via my work email danielle.allen@mkuh.nhs.uk to say your interested. I'd also like to know where it is your working, if you're a tech or appentice and also your strengths ans weakness. This way we can create some highlighted areas we could work on for the informal training day. Would love to hear from you all out there!
Kind Regards
Danielle at MKUH

Hi Danielle
firstly a warm welcome to the forum and thanks for joining
great ideas, hopefully you'll use this forum to get and give advice
up here in Scotland we have a network of around 25 sim techs, we run this forum, we have our own twitter account and have hosted an annual sim tech day for the past 4 years.
the rest of the UK is starting to catch-up, there is a UK wide network, kinda co-ordinated through ASPiH, with regional sim tech champions, which basically cover the English/Welsh health regions (are there 7 or thereabouts??). there are plans in progress in England/Wales just now to have a "north" sim tech day and a "south" sim tech day, which will be open to all sim techs, so perhaps you could join whichever network is in your area and from the sounds of it, your preference would be to show or learn moulage skills, which i'm sure would be do-able at one of these events.
Are you aware of the regional sim tech champions? if not i could pass on your details or give you the details of your regional champion?
just a quick reply as I'm currently between scenarios, but again, glad you have joined and any questions just ask

That would be great if i could be contacted regarding a South SimTech Day! As i know another newbie Tech who doesn't have a vast contact of SimTech's. I haven't been able to find a community of SimTech's in my area unfortunately so myself and a Tech from Frimley Health have created a FB page which I can share if it will be of interest. I am very interested in Moulage and as i have a girl coming to me for Work Experience in the new year I was hoping to hold and informal tips and tricks day to just smarten up my skills as well as meeting others. The regional sim tech champions, is that from the ASPiH webpage? I love the video BTW!

I think anything that can help sim techs across the uk is a great thing. I think most techs could do with a moulage course but it would depend on how much they do in their area to how in depth they would probably want it to be. I know most of the techs in Scotland who will act/confederate in simulation scenarios struggle with medical terminology, what certain medical equipment looks like and how it is used, how we prep drugs etc. Could there be an aspect of this that could have a workshop?
Dont know if that helps at all.
I know i am always looking for anything that can help my skill basis to help the centre out as much as i can, and think workshops are a great idea.
