since Laerdal products don't actually shift air, when they are self ventilating but still tubed (waking up from anesthetic) the reservoir bag doesn't move (deflate on inspiration). so we have made a wee modification to rectify that, whilst retaining the chest rise and fall whilst being ventilated. Anyone else using Laerdal manikins in this way and think this might be useful? If anyone is interested I'll send them instructions on how to replicate.
